Delete Account and Data

You can completely delete your Taxtastic account yourself at any time—both in the app and in your browser. On this page, you’ll learn how to do this, what data will be deleted, and what data we’re required to retain for legal reasons.

How to delete your account

1. Log in to the app or at taxtastic.de/anmelden.
2. Open “My Account” and select “Delete Account”—you can also access this directly at taxtastic.de/mein-konto/konto-entfernen.
3. Confirm the deletion. It will be carried out immediately; restoration is not possible afterward.
4. You’ll receive a confirmation email at the address you provided.

Can’t access your account anymore?

Send us an email from the address you used to register to datenschutz@taxtastic.de with the subject line “Account Deletion.” We’ll delete your account after verifying your identity—no later than one month after receiving your request.

The following data will be deleted

• Your user account, including login credentials and active sessions
• All information from your tax returns—for all tax years and all attachments
• Your uploaded receipts and documents, including both the files themselves and the associated information
• Submissions to the tax office, as well as messages, appeals, requests for deadline extensions, and requests to adjust advance payments
• Imported data from the ELSTER retrieval (VaSt), including the authorization status
• Your personal information, notifications, calculation logs, and processing statuses
• Registered devices, memberships, and saved payment methods

We are required to retain this data

Invoices and payment receipts are subject to retention requirements under commercial and tax law (§ 147 AO, § 257 HGB). We are not permitted to delete them, but we separate them from your personal information: Your name, email address, and mailing address are anonymized in the order data so that they can no longer be linked to you. Once the statutory retention period of ten years has expired, these documents will also be removed.

Important: Revoke the power of attorney separately on the ELSTER portal

If you have granted us power of attorney to retrieve your tax data, this authorization remains in effect with the tax office regardless of your Taxtastic account. We are technically unable to revoke it on your behalf. Please also revoke it yourself in the ELSTER portal.
